Tyburn Tree

24 March 2014

“The artists changed their ideas about the visual elements of the show a lot on the day, so controlling the video in a familiar way was a big advantage”.

LD Anders Akermo chose a Tiger Touch II console and Ai Media server to help him recreate the ambience of Dark London, for Marc Almond and John Harle’s project The Tyburn Tree.  John Harle is an accomplished composer with many concert pieces, Film and Television scores to his name.  Marc Amond is a singer songwriter most famous as lead singer in synth pop act Soft Cell.  Together Marc and John have created the Tyburn Tree which tells some of London’s darkest tales through music, featuring the Limehouse Ripper, Spring-Heeled Jack and the Highgate Vampire.

For the tour’s opening show at the Barbican centre in London, Anders used a rig of moving lights, LED and conventionals along with custom video content on a projection screen to create the moods to bring the eerie stories to life.  Anders is familiar with Avolites lighting products, but was using Ai for the first time on a show.  Anders said of the setup “The artists changed their ideas about the visual elements of the show a lot on the day, so controlling the video in a familiar way was a big advantage”.
